How to Communicate with Intent as a Leader

Communication is meant for purpose.

--

As leaders we must perfect the craft of communication.

It’s non-negotiable.

If you can’t communicate, you can’t lead. Unfortunately, communication is something that many leaders struggle with. Look no further than the plethora of bad reviews on Glassdoor.

And it’s easy to chalk those reviews up to disgruntled employees. But why are they disgruntled in the first place?

During my six years as a union leader, I had to perfect the craft of communication.

It’s something I’m still working on today because it’s a life long process.

In the beginning of my stewardship, I struggled. But I dedicated time everyday to practicing different communication styles.

It’s the leaders job to facilitate effective communication. And we must study and deploy communication with intention. Doing so makes us better at doing our jobs and meeting the organizations vision.

I’ll explain how.

Don’t just speak because you like the sound of your voice
